Nationally recognized as a leader in quality health care
Mercy has consistently earned national recognition for excellence and quality in patient care. And while we're proud of our many awards, we don't focus on them. Instead, we focus on providing our patients the highest level of health care available. We call it the Mercy Touch®. And it's how we earn the greatest award of all-the trust and respect of our patients. Here are just a few recent examples of Mercy's award-winning care:
Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification
Mercy Medical Center has earned Disease-Specific Care (DSC) Certification for the following programs:
Advanced Primary Stroke Certification
Women and Heart Disease Certification
Certification is awarded by the Joint Commission which evaluates and accredits nearly 17,000 health-care organizations and programs in the United States. Mercy met all of the standards in all areas of evaluation.
American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer Accreditation
In 2008, Mercy Medical Center received a Three-Year Approval with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). Approval by the CoC is achieved by only those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of cancer care and undergo a rigorous evaluation process.
Established in 1922 by the American College of Surgeons, the CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients through standard setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive, quality care. As the only ACoS-accredited site in the area, Mercy ensures that a patient will have access to the latest advancements and coordinated system of cancer care.

American Heart Association
Mercy Medical Center was awarded a Gold Achievement Award by the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Quality Initiative for outstanding care of patients with Coronary Artery Disease and Stroke. Mercy currently holds these awards for outstanding care dating back to 2007.
This award signifies that Mercy follows proven evidence-based guidelines and procedures for care of heart and stroke patients in order to prevent future hospitalization. Hospitals must have completed two or more years of participation at 85% or higher adherence to all performance measures to receive a Gold Award.
