Mark E. Valliere, M.D., MMM, FACP named Chief Medical Officer at Mercy
Mercy Medical Center , 701 10th St. SE, has announced the appointment of Mark E. Valliere, M.D., MMM, FACP, as chief medical officer of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Dr. Valliere has served as vice president of Medical Affairs at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau , Missouri since 2005. Saint Francis is a non-profit, 249-bed acute care hospital that serves more than 450,000 people in southern Missouri . Dr. Valliere’s duties at Saint Francis included responsibility for the Medical Affairs Office, Case Management/Utilization Review, Performance Improvement, hospital-owned physician practices, Home Health and the Sleep Medicine Center .
Prior to his work at Saint Francis Medical Center, Dr. Valliere served as vice president of Medical Affairs and Medical Education at Trinity Regional Health System in Rock Island , Illinois . He also served Moline as a General Internist at Medical Arts Associates, Ltd. for four years.
Dr. Valliere has served numerous community organizations including the United Way Board of Trustees and is a member of multiple professional organizations.
Dr. Valliere obtained his undergraduate degree from Creighton University in 1979 and his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa in 1983. Dr. Valliere completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in1986. He then went on to obtain his graduate degree, M.M.M., at Tulane University in New Orleans , Louisiana .
