New Mercy Health Plaza Imaging Center offers patients a convenient alternative
Mercy Medical Center , 701 10th St. SE , is pleased to announce the September 4 opening of its new Imaging Center located at the Mercy Health Plaza , 5264 Council St. NE. The Imaging Center offers patients an alternative site for C.T. scans, ultrasound and diagnostic x-ray services.
“The new off-site location will offer our patients a convenient and easily-accessible alternative to services we currently provide at the hospital,” says Duane Dzingle, Mercy’s Director of Radiology Services. “The majority of our C.T. scans, ultrasound and diagnostic procedures are outpatient, so we wanted to open up another location to make it more convenient. You can still go downtown to Mercy Medical Center if you want to or, especially, if you are having multiple tests or procedures throughout the hospital. But for a single, one-stop procedure, the Health Plaza location is ideal."
The same radiologists will interpret images, with the same priority, from both the hospital and the Health Plaza locations. The images are sent over a fiber-optics network for the radiologists to interpret. Same-day results are available in most cases.
Both C.T. scans and ultrasound procedures will be offered to patients during scheduled appointments. Diagnostic x-rays are provided to patients on a walk-in basis. All imaging procedures require a physician’s order.
Patients wanting to make an appointment at the new Imaging Center should call Mercy Medical Center at 319-398-6868. Next-day or same-day scheduling is available.
Imaging Center hours are: MWF – 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; TTh – 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
