New Family Practice Clinic
Opens in North Liberty
MercyCare Community Physicians (MCCP), a network of over 70 health-care providers in Cedar Rapids and surrounding communities, will celebrate the grand opening of its new family practice clinic, MercyCare North Liberty, on January 9, from 3:30pm–7:00pm, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30pm. The clinic is located at the corner of Alexander Way and Penn Street.
“ In the last few years, the number of patients from North Liberty and Coralville who are coming to MercyCare clinics for their health care needs has increased dramatically, particularly as more and more people from there are working in the Cedar Rapids area, “ said Tim Charles, president and chief executive officer of Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. “We value these patients and their loyalty to Mercy. Establishing a clinic in North Liberty makes our health-care services more convenient and more accessible to these patients who currently go out of their way to visit MercyCare.”
The 21,000 square-foot primary-care facility includes sixteen exam rooms, with on-site laboratory, radiology, family counseling, physical therapy and pharmacy services. The clinic offers a unique design to enhance patient care, with a comforting environment that improves the quality of the patient’s experience and patient confidentiality. The building allows for the expansion of additional health care services.
The grand opening event will include tours, refreshments and kids’ activities. Residents will also be able to register to win an annual family swim pass to the North Liberty aquatic center. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to meet the clinic’s physicians, Amy Andersen, M.D., and Sarah von Harz, M.D.
Dr. Andersen and Dr. von Harz earned their Doctorate of Medicine degrees from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Dr. Andersen completed her residency at the Quad Cities Genesis Family Practice. Dr. von Harz completed her residency at the Cedar Rapids Medical Education Foundation.
Dr Andersen and Dr. von Harz will begin seeing patients when the health care facility opens on January 1. They will provide comprehensive family care, including pediatrics and prenatal care. They will offer walk-in and same-day appointments as well as extended hours to meet the healthcare needs of North Liberty residents and surrounding communities.
The addition of the new North Liberty facility brings the number of area MCCP clinics to 19. MCCP currently has family practice clinics in Cedar Rapids, Center Point, Hiawatha, Marion, Monticello, Mount Vernon, and Tama. They also have two urgent care facilities and three specialty clinics. Established in 1995, MCCP is affiliated with Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
