Mercy Administrator Earns Top Health Care Management Credential
A. James Tinker, President and Chief Executive Officer, MercyCare Services Corporation, recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for health-care leaders.
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 5,400 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.
The American College of Healthcare Executives is an international professional society of more than 30,000 healthcare executives who lead our nation’s hospitals, health care systems and other health care organizations.
Mr. Tinker moved to Cedar Rapids in 1982, when he accepted management of Mercy Medical Center . During his tenure as President and CEO, Mercy became the fourth-largest employer in Cedar Rapids with an operating budget of more than $227 million. Mr. Tinker will be formally recognized for his accomplishment at the American College of Healthcare Executives Convocation Ceremony on March 18 in New Orleans .
