How Ideal Protein Works
The body draws from three sources of energy: carbohydrates, muscle and fats, always drawing from carbohydrates first. The Ideal Protein weight loss method limits the carbohydrate intake during the first phase, forcing the body to turn to fat and muscle for energy. By focusing on consuming high-biological protein foods, we protect lean muscle mass, allowing the body to burn fat for energy.
Many chronic diseases are associated with obesity. Losing weight can help ease the symptoms and reduce risk factors for many of these diseases, including:
- GERD/Heartburn
- Asthma
- High Cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Type II diabetes
- Stroke
- Gallbladder disease
- Osteoarthritis
- Sleep apnea and other breathing problems
- Mental health problems (depression, low self-esteem, etc.)
