After receiving his medical degree at the State University of New York Health Science Center in 1991, Dr. Segal did a six-year residency in surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
He specializes in a minimally invasive surgery procedure called XLIF (eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion). This procedure requires a smaller incision, meaning less disruption of body tissue and, therefore, a shorter recovery time. Dr. Segal performs the most XLIF procedures in the state of Iowa.
