Operating Room
Mercy has 14 operating-room suites with state-of-the-art equipment for all surgical procedures. Each room is typically used for a particular specialty. Multi-purpose and special procedure rooms are also available.
A base team consisting of a registered nurse and a technician is staffed around the clock. Specialty call for neurological; ear, nose and throat; oral; orthopaedic; ophthalmologic; gynecological; vascular; urologic; and cystoscopic surgery is available on all shifts.
Mercy Surgical Services is noted for patient-centered, cost effective care of inpatients and outpatients. A typical day in the Mercy OR includes a wide range of routine procedures, including cases in orthopaedics, urology, vascular surgery, gynecology, podiatry and other areas. Besides these, Surgical Services provides specialty procedures in every area, using state-of-the-art equipment. This includes the Compass and Regulus stereotactic neurological systems, the Prostatron to relieve symptoms of an enlarged prostate and the Insta-Trak guided imagery system for sinus surgery.
