Mercy celebrates opening of new parking ramp and 10th Street entrance

CEDAR RAPIDS - Mercy Medical Center is proud to announce the opening of its new parking ramp at the corner of Eighth Avenue and 10th Street SE, and its newly renovated 10th Street entrance. The new ramp more than doubles the parking capacity at that location for patients and their families.

The new 10th Street entrance also provides convenient access to patient rooms and popular Mercy services and amenities such as the Mercy Gift Shop, Uncommon Grounds coffee shop, Mercy Home Medical Equipment store, Watts Medical Library & Patient/Family Resource Center, Mercy Café' and Mercy chapel.

"The goal of the improvements we've made this past year is to create an increasingly patient-friendly campus with the most convenient access to Mercy services.  The completion of the 10th Street Expansion project is symbolic of our efforts to make Mercy better than ever for the community we serve," says Karl Keeler, Mercy's Executive Vice President & COO.

On May 15, 2008, Mercy broke ground on a three-phase renovation project.  The project components included expansion of the Emergency and Radiology departments, and the addition of a new hospital entrance and parking ramp at the corner of Eighth Avenue and Tenth Street SE.  All three phases of that project are now complete.
