Information on Outdated Billing Statements
We want to keep you informed about a situation that has come to our attention regarding the mailing of some outdated Mercy billing statements.
We believe a computer-generated error is responsible for a number of billing statements from 2006 and 2007 that were mistakenly re-sent to Mercy patients. Most of the bills have already been settled.
To date, about ten patients have contacted Mercy about receiving the outdated bills. We've assured them that we have record of their payment history and no further action is required on their part in response to the billing statement.
Mercy is working to determine how the error happened and how many of the outdated billing statements were mailed. We do know that the error occurred over the course of four days in late February before the system self-corrected.
We are asking patients who received the outdated bills to call Mercy's Business Office during regular business hours (8 a.m-4:30 p.m., M-F) with any questions or concerns. That number is 319-861-7682.
We apologize for any concern or confusion this situation has caused. Please let us know if you have any questions.
