My mother-in-law had a cast on for 8 weeks for a broken wrist, question that I asked previously, and when the cast came off her wrist and hand are extremely swollen and sore, the dr. doesn't seem concerned, she's 83, he said it just will take time. She saw another dr. for a second opinion, her hand is red, swollen and warm, she was put on antibiotics, which have not helped. She was sent for an ultrasound and it came out fine, she has an appointment with an orthopedic doctor but not for over 10 days, we are very concerned that this is an extremely long time, the cast has been off for almost two weeks and there has been no improvement, maybe 8 weeks was too long to not see a Dr.? Hello. A friend of mine broke his foot on June 4th. His cast is set to come off on July 18th. We are planning to go to Cedar Point Amusement Park on July 7th. Would it be possible for him to go on roller coasters? Thank you! Vicki - Blue Grass
Dear Sir, Maybe one month back I had a twist in my left wrist. Some pain was there initially but now little pain is there. When I visited a doctor he told that it is ganglion. Though it is very small and can be seen only when my palm is bent. what should I do . should I go for another opinion or wait for some time to subside naturally How do we see and make sure that it is growing. please advise. sanjeev - delhi
Hi Doctor, I have a problem with my skin that came on all of a sudden, but has been going on now for quite some time and no one can figure it out. I asked a Dermatologist and she said it was coming from "inside and not external". My regular Doctor ran a CBC and metabolic panal when I showed him what happens. He said he never saw anything like it, but didn't know what was wrong. My blood work all came back "normal". I do not have any rashes, I do not itch or anything like that. It's like my skin became thin. If I just run my fingernail on my arm very lightly I will get blood coming right to the surface. It's not blood that will smear, it's like a red blood mark (not a bruise), and it will stay like that for days. I would really appreciate any opinion you have, or if you could point me in the direction of tests. Also, I have photos of my arm and my face with the marks, if you wouldn't mind taking a look at them. Thanks for your time!! Terry
I am 40, female, having irregular periods/perimenopause, a month ago I started having strange vision symptoms that last about 20-30 minutes. It has happen 6 times total. Afterwards I sometimes get an annoying slight pressure feeling but no serious headache. Researching the net I came up with Scintillating scotoma or migrane aura with no headache. It describes exactly what I am having. Bright zig zagging light shows that start as a small ball in the center and then enlarge out until they leave the field of vision. They seem to be mostly in both eyes and I can still see them if I close my eyes. I have no insurance and just went to the doc in April for blood work (cholesterol and blood sugar was a bit high)Thyroid ok, Hormones showing menopause levels. Since then I have been working on eating better and walking for exercise. I have had two or three dizzy spells in the past year ( thats why I went in for blood work). My question is should I be worried about these new light shows ? Or should I assume they are hormone related migraine type symptoms (although I have never had migraine headaches) . I thought they were gone, I did not have one for 2 weeks and then I just got another one on Friday. Michelle - Cedar Rapids
