About Mercy's Birthplace
We're not the biggest and we don't deliver the most babies.
And we're okay with that. Our goal is to provide you with the most attentive-and safest-care you and baby deserve.
Our staff have more than a decade of experience, and we're home to the area's most experienced neonatologist, Dr. Roger Allen, and our newest neonatologist, Dr. Nicholas Sherrow, so you can rest assured you and baby will be in great hands.
Having the right people in place to provide special attention for your baby makes all the difference. After all, your baby deserves the best care.
Family-centered care
When it comes to Mercy's Birthplace and NICU, "family-centered care" is not just a fancy term our marketing department came up with-this is something we live and breathe every day. From our innovative suites that allow you to be close to baby, to your involvement in your baby's care, we're thinking of you and including you every step of the way.
You'll also have the opportunity to get a home visit from one of our lactation consultants, who will weigh baby, check his or her vitals, and can help answer your breastfeeding questions, or any questions you may have.
Totally Suite
Each Birthplace and NICU suite is private and specially-equipped for your baby's needs. This design allows you to be near your baby at all times, and the opportunity to truly be a part of his or her care. Our NICU suites are designed to be gentle and sensitive to the needs of special-care babies.
Our suites feature fully-equipped special-care beds, with built-in scales so babies do not need to be disturbed to get weighed. A central monitoring system is in place for constant and close observation. Our NICU suites-and all Birthplace rooms for that matter-are only seconds from the OR, so your baby will never be far from you. But, when you do need a break (and that's perfectly understandable) your baby will be monitored by our NICU team at all times.
We've thought of you in our design as well. Our spacious suites offer private bathrooms with whirlpool tubs, room for mom and dad to sleep, and space for family to visit, when baby is ready. As always, if your baby needs extra care after you're discharged, there is no cost for you to stay with your baby.
