NICU

Baby's Care

Every birth—more than anything—is a family story.  That’s why our approach at the Mercy NICU places an emphasis on family-centered care, encouraging the family to spend as much time as possible bonding with their new baby. The parents are always included in baby's plan of care and decision-making.  Working with the family, the NICU nursing staff creates a "developmental care plan" that reflects each baby's likes, dislikes, needs and strengths. This helps the health-care team individualize each baby's care according to that baby's needs.
