NICU Features

One of the reasons the Mercy NICU has so many success stories is the specially designed environment we’ve created. Our NICU environment is designed to be gentle and sensitive to the needs of special-care babies. The unit includes natural lighting, carpeting and special blinds that reduce noise and light that may over-stimulate babies.

The NICU has six fully-equipped special-care beds, with the capability of expanding to nine. The beds have built-in scales so babies do not need to be disturbed to get weighed. A "Quick View" station allows digital imaging of X-rays. This means faster, more accurate viewing of the X-rays for health care providers.
