Most childcare facilities won’t accept sick children and many employers do not have sick leave policies for parents whose youngsters are ill. It can be a difficult situation!
Mercy Offers a Solution
There’s a way for you to meet your responsibilities to your child and your job: Turn to Mercy’s Bearly Sick daycare program for children ages 6 weeks to 14 years who are ill. It’s in a special location at Mercy Medical Center, and provides daytime care for kids who can’t go to regular childcare, but who do not need hospitalization.
Our staff of trained professionals will give your child the time and attention needed during an illness. For about the same cost of a babysitter, Mercy’s Bearly Sick is here to help!
Bearly Sick Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday
Your child’s stay at Bearly Sick is quick and easy to arrange: Call 319-369-4463. We appreciate an hour’s notice, if possible, to prepare for your child.
Attendance is on a first-come basis. We can accommodate up to 10 children at one time.
Special Care for Special Kids
Children at Bearly Sick are separated according to illness. Simply let us know about your child’s current condition and any pertinent information on daily routine. We’ll provide the rest – including the TLC!
Bearly Sick will provide:
- breakfast before 8 a.m.
- snacks and beverages
- a lunch tray for a nominal fee
- activities as appropriate
- nap cots, cribs and linens
- Tylenol and ibuprofen as needed
You must bring:
- Change of clothes, diapers
- Special toy, security blanket
- Breast milk, formula, Pedialyte or special diet items
- Medicines prescribed by your health-care provider
