Endocrinologists diagnose and treat conditions affecting the glands of the endocrine system, including the thyroid, the pituitary, and glands located in the pancreas, ovaries and testes. Hormones from these glands regulate appetite, metabolism and energy stability, all of which affect whether a person is considered obese. Medical conditions associated with obesity include insulin resistance, reproductive issues, metabolic syndrome and genetic problems.
