Emergency Department

Mercy's Emergency Department is fully staffed 24 hours-a-day, all year long and fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology to handle the most serious healthcare emergencies. Mercy's ED is designated as a Level III trauma facility.  Patients are cared for by full-time staff physicians board-certified in emergency medicine and by specially trained nurses.Emergency Department 

Mercy's Emergency Department has scored higher than 95% of U.S. hospitals in patient satisfaction, proving Mercy is committed to putting the needs and concerns of patients first.

 

Fast Track ED - Respecting Your Time

You're Guaranteed to be seen in 30 minutes or less.

Mercy's Fast Track is available during the day for patients whose problems need treatment but are not critical. And, patients seen in the Fast Track are guaranteed to be seen by a provider in 30 minutes or less!

Mercy's Fast Track Ed is available for patients with less urgent illnesses or injuries such as:

  • Flu
  • Colds
  • Earache
  • Simple cuts and scrapes
  • Sore throat
  • Rashes
  • Bruises/sprains/strains
  • Broken fingers/toes

Care in Mercy's Fast Track is coordinated  7 days a week by nurse practitioners.

Fast Track Hours of Operation - 1 to 11 p.m. Daily

Area Ambulance

Mercy is also home to the Cedar Rapids Area Ambulance Service, whose skilled paramedics work closely with the Emergency Department staff.
