Cardiology Providers at Mercy

Questions?

If patients have questions, Mercy encourages them to call Molly Flynn, Director, Clinic Operations at Mercy, at (319) 398-6131.

Mercy is in the process of sending out letters to its patients with additional information to help ensure they get all the necessary and correct information.

Mercy was recently notified of the decision by the former Cardiologists, LC (now called UnityPoint Clinic – Cardiology) that they will no longer provide care for cardiac patients at Mercy, effective June 1. As a result, Mercy has been receiving numerous calls from patients and families confused and upset about this decision.

Mercy wants to reassure our patients:

  • Mercy has and continues to be committed to offering award-winning, high-quality cardiovascular services. In fact, Mercy was recently rated #1 in Linn County for medical excellence in cardiac care.
  • Patients have the right to choose where they receive care and we encourage them to continue to select Mercy as their hospital of choice. Patients need to simply select a cardiologist that provides services at Mercy, such as Cedar Rapids Heart Center.
  • Mercy encourages patients to continue to use Mercy’s ER for their cardiac emergency needs.  Mercy was awarded the area’s first accreditation as an ER Chest Pain Center, where cardiologists from Cedar Rapids Heart Center provide timely and quality on-call coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Mercy is the only hospital in the area that has provided door-to-balloon times less than the national average for 100% of their heart attack patients for nearly four years.
  • Beginning June 1st, Mercy will also be coordinating care through a single, shared electronic healthcare record to provide seamless, integrated care.
