Mercy’s Fit For Life Program
The goal of Mercy’s “Fit for Life” program is ongoing fitness. Its classes are for those with chronic health conditions requiring supervised exercise. Many participants have completed one of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Programs but participants with other chronic conditions – including congestive heart failure, diabetes, stroke, lung disease, being overweight, chronic pain and others – are encouraged to join “Fit for Life.”
“Fit for Life” includes:
- An ongoing fitness program for those with health problems preventing them from attending regular exercise classes
- Exercise supervised by registered nurses and exercise specialists
- Blood pressure and heart rate monitoring
- Exercise guidelines
- Exercise evaluation and assessment before the program to ensure the appropriate individualized exercise prescription
Mercy Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation staff, including registered nurses and exercise specialists, will supervise your exercise and are available for questions. We teach you how to exercise independently. The amount of time you spend in “Fit for Life” depends on physical progression and the amount of monitoring necessary.
Classes meet at the Mercy Fitness Center in the Mercy Health Plaza, 5264 Council Street NE, Cedar Rapids.
