Mercy’s Cardiac Rehabilitation
Mercy’s carefully-planned, individualized, three-phase Cardiac Rehabilitation Program helps patients return to a full life. This is for patients who have recently experienced a cardiac problem such as a heart attack or chest pain; been diagnosed with congestive heart failure or other heart condition; undergone an invasive procedure such as angioplasty or stent replacement; or had heart surgery.
Mercy’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is led by a team of registered nurses and exercise specialists who help patients resume activities, and teach you how to make lifestyle changes to decrease the risk of future heart problems.
Cardiac Rehabilitation begins in the Inpatient Program. Education and monitoring activities start while the patient is in the hospital and continues with our Outpatient Program. Heart rhythm, blood pressure and overall tolerance to exercise are monitored.
The Outpatient Program begins one to two weeks after the patient is discharged, and continues with education and exercise. This lasts up to 12 weeks.
The third phase of Cardiac Rehabilitation is our “Fit for Life” program, the maintenance phase of both cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
