Hospice of Mercy – To Comfort Always
Hospice of Mercy serves patients and families facing advanced illness when a cure is no longer possible. Our
Hospice team works to maintain quality of life. We provide physical care, support and comfort, using a “whole person” approach in care. Our goal is to promote the physical, emotional and spiritual comfort of each patient and their loved ones.
We believe in our mission: providing comfort and compassion when it’s needed most. For those in need of what Hospice of Mercy offers, this may be the ultimate expression of the Mercy Touch. It can greatly ease sadness, worry and grieving, providing peace and healing at a critical time.
Hospice of Mercy provides expert medical care and support, promoting dignity, independence and peace of mind for terminally-ill patients wherever they live – at home or in a nursing facility. Our interdisciplinary team of professionals includes our medical director, program coordinator, physicians, nurses, social workers, inter-denominational chaplains, home health aides, volunteer coordinator and volunteers, and other health-care consultants.
Our services include:
- Pain and symptom management
- Psychological and social counseling
- Chaplain for spiritual needs
- Personal care, light housekeeping and errands
- Nutrition consultation and education
- Companionship
We also offer alternative comfort services for some of our patients, such as massage and music therapy. These
services can help patients better cope with pain and depression, communicate with loved ones and come to terms with the many complex, difficult end-of-life issues they face.
Hospice of Mercy’s services are focused on patient and family-directed care. We serve a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids, reaching into seven counties. Our services are available regardless of ability to pay.
Hospice care is unlike other health care services. Most insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross understand the importance of end-of-life care and provide reimbursement.
The Gift of Hospice
Our goal is to journey with our patients and their loved ones. Each patient and family is unique, and we try to personalize our comfort and care to address those individual needs.
