When kneeling down causes pain. When your joints just ache. It's time to consider options for regaining your freedom of movement again. Roll around with the grandchildren, get through a full 18, finish your spring planting all in one day - we can help you get there again.
There are options for reducing your pain and Mercy's Orthopaedic Services can help you. Our expertise in orthopaedics is evidenced by advanced surgical developments and specialized nursing care. You ache. You're stiff. You want relief. Keep an eye out for Total Joint Replacement educational seminars offered two to three times each year at Mercy Medical Center. Local orthopaedic surgeons and Mercy staff discuss options for problems with your knees, hips and shoulders, including exercise, physical therapy and total joint replacement.
Total Joint Replacement
Your knee and hip replacement experts.
Restore your freedom of movement without pain. At Mercy, we emphasize patient education and rehabilitation therapy, allowing for a less stressful and more focused return to daily activities. Our Total Joint Replacement program will guide you through three phases of treatment:
Phase 1 - An informational class to prepare you for surgery and address any questions you might have. Here, you and your coach (family or friend) learn the process and follow-up care needed for successful rehabilitation.
Phase 2 - Your surgery. As the surgery hospital, you'll be in the caring hands of our excellent staff known for clinical expertise and evidence-based practices. Your surgery will be performed in state-of-the-art surgery suites, with recovery in all private patient suites. We provide a high quality of care for every patient, every time.
Phase 3 - Learn to care for your new joint and begin a vigorous rehabilitation program guided by our inpatient therapy team. We also have options for those who would be a good fit for our Rapid Recovery Program (PDF).
A team you can count on. Our interdisciplinary team includes orthopaedic surgeons, surgical technicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, care coordinators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, clinical pharmacists, social workers and more. Each of these specialists is uniquely qualified to care for joint surgery patients.
A coach you can trust. Your family and friends are a major part of your life. So it only makes sense that one of them acts as your rehabilitation coach during your time at the Total Joint Replacement Center. Your coach will play a vital role, guided by our expert staff, in your recovery and help you attain critical milestones in your progress.
The PASE (Pre-Admission Surgery Education) program familiarizes patients with medical procedures and the facilities prior to surgery, reducing patient anxiety. State-of-the-art technology and a professional "interdisciplinary" team approach optimize care. Mercy Orthopaedic Services also conducts research and maintains a bone bank.
