Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy provides evaluation and treatment of people with a variety of health problems resulting from injury or disease. Physical Therapists assess joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, performance of activities required for work, sports, or daily living. Treatment may include increasing joint range of motion, improving strength of specific muscle groups, assisting people with their gait, transfers from bed to chair and chair to bed, relieving pain, working with amputees (including training on the use of a prosthesis), etc.
Mercy Physical Therapists treat both in and outpatients with a large variety of diagnoses. This includes such things as low back and sciatic nerve pain; neck and arm pain; tendinitis problems; burns; brain injuries; strokes; MS; hip and knee replacement, dizziness and balance; and many women’s issues such as osteoporosis, back pain associated with pregnancy, post-mastectomy, incontinence, etc.
