Educational Programs and Health Screenings
Mercy Medical Center offers a variety of educational programs and health screenings to help Mercy Generations members stay healthy and well informed. Members receive advance notice of these special events by mail. Examples of program topics are fitness, advance directives, Medicare coverage, and long-term care insurance.
Free Blood Pressure Checks
An easy-to-use automated blood pressure machine is located just inside Mercy’s Tenth Street entrance. It provides blood pressure readings in a minute or less. The machine is calibrated regularly, helping to ensure accuracy. Volunteers are also available for blood pressure checks at the Witwer Senior Center. Mercy Home Health Care Services
The team of experts at Mercy Home Health Care offers personalized services in the comfort and privacy of an individual’s home. Services include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified home health aides, medical social workers, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. A registered nurse or physical therapist will perform a physical and psychosocial assessment to determine an individual’s home health care needs and offer professional advice about other services. Hospice of Mercy
Hospice of Mercy is a special kind of home care program that offers medical, psychological and spiritual care to terminally ill patients, with a prognosis of six months or less, and their families. A coordinated team of nurses, home health aides, social workers, spiritual care staff and volunteers provides care in the patient’s home or a nursing home. Transitions Program
The Mercy Medical Center Transitions Program is available to patients with a prognosis of one year or less. Caring, trained and experienced volunteers offer support and respite to the family, while social workers follow the individual and family as they live with their illness.
