Bone Health

You're more than just a breast or bone – those are just parts – and that's not how we see you. Mercy Women's Center provides you with a holistic approach like no other. We provide you with all the tools you need for healthy bones – from osteoporosis screenings and bone density testing to support groups and fitness classes and beyond.

Bones change throughout one's lifetime – bone is not a solid, lifeless substance; bone is a complex structure of living tissue. If not prevented or if left untreated, the loss of bone tissue can progress into this painful and debilitating condition that affects 25 million Americans. More than half of women ages 65 and over are affected by osteoporosis. Take care of your bone health. We can help.

Screenings

DEXA bone density testing serves as an aid in diagnosing osteoporosis, osteopenia (low bone density), and in monitoring the effectiveness of treatment.

Treatment

The first step in treating osteoporosis is prevention. Building strong bones, especially before age 35, may be the best defense. Osteoporosis requires lifelong management.
