Dr Smith seems to be a man of few words. I like details about what to expect and I should have asked more questions. With that said I feel confident Dr Smith is an excellent surgeon and am happy he performed my surgery.

I would have liked to hear more details about the surgery procedure. I should have asked more questions but didn't know what to ask at the time. He answered the questions that I did ask.

Dr looked at MRI and said "we will send you to the university" - not much conversation.

I was offered zero pain relief and they scheduled 2 MRIs and I can't tolerate an MRI. I had a panic attack in my last one. He didn't even seem concerned with that. He didn't explain what was wrong with my back at all, just suggested we look upper at my neck so I have no idea whats going on.my entire appointment was less than 30 mins and I waited forever to get that appt. The whole time I can hardly walk because of the pain.

Dr Smith was totally ungiving in explanations of the actual surgery, expected results, and potential problems, or rehab Issues. His policy seemed to be "I have completed the surgery and that is my only obligation. He did not present himself for any interaction with the patient what so ever. I am totally confident that Dr Smith is a very competent surgeon, but his "bed side manner" is totally nonexistent.

The Dr explained things in a way that I could understand and asked if I had any other questions. When I asked them he answered them immediately.

Dr Smith did not show me or explain any results of the MRI. Only because I am a nurse did I have some basic understanding of the results. He just announced that he wouldn't get approval for surgery from the insurance company but to come back if things didn't improve. I've lived with this for 2 years since I saw him last. I've come back only to be told he won't help me & he's offered no ideas of what further I can do. I realize the answer is not always surgery but he just totally dismissed me & ushered me out of the clinic room. I couldn't have spent more than 5 minutes with him.

No bedside manner. Was only in room for a couple minutes. Seemed like he was in hurry. Did not allow time for questions

I am sure he is a very good neurosurgeon. When it was recommended that surgery was not needed, I felt like the care stopped there.
