Susan Schima, MD, joined Mercy Cardiology Clinic in August 2013. Dr. Schima, who is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, earned her MD from Creighton University, Omaha, in 2001. After completing a fellowship at Creighton University Medical Center in Cardiovascular Disease, as well as an internship in Internal Medicine, she served as the Chief Resident of Internal Medicine there from 2004-2005.

Dr. Schima served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine, was on the medical staff at Creighton University Medical Center, as well as on the courtesy staff at Alegent Health - Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha.

Dr. Schima is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha  She has received numerous awards for her participation in research studies, and has participated in authoring publications in the field of cardiology.

I highly regard Dr. Schima. It is easy to discuss any problems with her. She takes time to listen and explain things in a very understandable way. I actually enjoy going to see her even though it is a doctor appointment!

I recently had gotten out of hospital and Dr. Schima was quite attentive not only in my hospital visit but my after hospital follow up and suggested we do a heart stress test. I am really happy with Dr. Schima and Kim.

Dr. Schima was patient and explained the symptoms of heart attack and stroke to me. She examined an area I was feeling soreness and concluded it was a structural problem unrelated to the heart.

Dr. Schima is EXCELLENT listening to every concern we have when I attend visits with my husband. Many staff changes throughout the heart center lead us to questions regarding continuation of care between departments. Dr. Schima gave encouraging, reassuring, honest information and recommendations. She and her staff are professional and supportive in every manor. Thank you.
