Clinic Nurse - Cardiology

• Room patients, obtain histories and vitals, and prepare them for exams
• Triage patient concerns and communicate with providers as needed
• Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, injections and other procedures within scop
• Educate patients about diagnoses, medications, procedures and treatment plans
• Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, testing and procedure
• Support scheduling for cardiac catheterizations, cardioversions, electrophysiology procedures, TEEs and other advanced cardiac services
• Communicate test results, medication changes and provider instructions
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with cardiologists, APPs and other members of the cardiovascular care team

Ideal candidates are organized, compassionate and comfortable working in a busy outpatient specialty practice. Strong communication, attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

• Current license or certification appropriate to the RN, LPN or CMA role
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter training required
• Previous medical office or clinic experience preferred

• Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills appropriate to role
• Ability to prioritize and remain efficient in a fast-paced clinic
• Knowledge of medications, patient education and care coordination
• Comfort with EHR systems and clinical technology
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team
