Echo/Vascular Sonographer
Up to $20,000 Sign-On Bonus | Day Shift | Four 10-Hour Shifts
Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking an Echo/Vascular Sonographer to join a highly skilled, collaborative cardiovascular imaging team.
This role offers a wide variety of experience across outpatient, inpatient, Emergency Department, ICU, stress echo, vascular procedures, and advanced cardiac imaging studies. Sonographers at Mercy work closely with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and experienced teammates while caring for patients with a broad range of cardiac and vascular conditions.
Our Echo and Vascular labs are led by registered sonographers who understand the physical, technical, and emotional demands of the profession. What You'll Do
- Perform high-quality echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound studies according to department standards
- Complete studies using M-mode, real-time imaging, color flow mapping, and Doppler techniques
- Review exams for technical accuracy and communicate important findings to the care team
- Participate in physician review and contribute clinical knowledge to the diagnostic process
- Perform outpatient, inpatient, ICU, Emergency Department, stress echo, and procedural imaging studies
- Assist physicians with procedures involving ultrasound guidance as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation, quality records, and reporting standards
- Troubleshoot equipment or reporting issues as needed
- Participate in a limited call rotation to support cardiology needs
What We're Looking For
- Registered or registry-eligible Adult Cardiac Echo Sonographer through ARDMS or CCI
- Registry must be obtained within 4 months of hire, if not already registered
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required
- Two-year allied health program or two years of college with biological sciences preferred
- Sonographers who are detail-oriented, coachable, collaborative, and committed to high-quality patient care
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
- Ability to recognize abnormal structures and produce clinically useful studies
- Competency with sonography equipment, transducers, imaging modes, and reporting systems
- Ability to adapt to new technology, equipment, and imaging protocols
- Strong communication skills with patients, physicians, and care team members
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
