What You’ll Do:
- Deliver high-quality emergency care through rapid assessment, critical thinking, and evidence-based interventions
- Respond confidently to high-acuity and life-threatening situations within scope of practice
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, seamless care
- Delegate effectively, document accurately, and promote a culture of safety and professionalism
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed:
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to prioritize rapidly in high-acuity, unpredictable situations
- Confident assessment skills with the ability to identify subtle changes in patient condition
- Effective communicator who provides clear handoffs and collaborates seamlessly with interdisciplinary teams
- Resilient and adaptable, maintaining composure and professionalism in fast-paced environments
- Commitment to continuous learning and pursuit of specialty certifications in emergency nursing

Credentials You'll Need:
- Current RN license (Iowa or compact state)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Iowa Mandatory Reporter Training (Child & Dependent Adult Abuse)
- ACLS certification (within 6 months of hire)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course); within 18 months of hire
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course; within 18 months of hire
Mercy covers the cost to obtain ACLS, TNCC and ENPC.
