Published on October 22, 2015
Insurance enrollment season is here. Signing up for insurance can be complex, but Mercy is here to help. This year, there are three options to be aware of:
Enrollment is October 15 through December 7, 2015. Those interested in learning about Medicare Advantage can attend one of the informational sessions hosted by Health Alliance Medicare Product in Hallagan Education Center:
For more information, call Health Alliance Medicare at (877) 925-0424 or visit medicare.healthalliance.org. Mercy’s SHIIP office can also assist with any Medicare-related questions at (319) 861-7887.
These plans are for patients with incomes at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL). Current Iowa Health and Wellness Plan members should complete a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and wellness visit with their primary care provider before December 31, 2015, to avoid paying premiums in 2016.
The majority of Medicaid, Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) and Iowa Health and Wellness Plan members will soon be enrolled with comprehensive managed care organizations (MCOs) through a program called IA Health Link. Members should watch their mail for information on choosing an MCO.
Mercy’s Certified Application Counselors (CACs) can help patients enroll and answer related questions. Call Mercy’s Insurance Enrollment Office at (319) 398-6695 or visit dhs.iowa.gov/ime/about for more information.
The Health Insurance Marketplace is open from Nov. 1, 2015, through Jan. 31, 2016. Patients with incomes between 100 and 400 percent FPL may visit healthcare.gov to find out if they qualify for financial assistance. There are three commercial plans available on the Marketplace – Medica, UnitedHealthcare and Coventry. Any Health Insurance Marketplace question can be directed to Mercy CACs at (319) 398-6695 or the marketplace directly at (800) 318-2596.
