Mercy Medical Center is pleased to announce that Chad Ware, Assistant Clinical Director for Inpatient Services, will be recognized as Nurse of the Year from Iowa’s Southeast region, at the Iowa Nurses Association (INA) Annual Convention in Des Moines on Mon., Oct 18.
The INA says Ware was selected for the recognition for exemplifying the qualities of an outstanding nurse. Among notable achievements, Ware helped coordinate the safe evacuation of 183 patients at Mercy Medical Center during record flooding in Cedar Rapids in June 2008. Additionally, Ware played a significant role in teaching staff the critical pieces of H1N1 prevention and intervention in 2009 and 2010.
Ware, RN, CEN, has been caring for patients and supporting families since coming to Mercy in 1996.
On the state and national level, he is a member of the Iowa Disaster Medical Assistance Team, an arm of the National Disaster Medical System.
