Home > Mercy News > Hospital visitors reminded of RAGBRAI street closures and detours
Published on July 25, 2012
In advance of RAGBRAI riders arriving in the Cedar Rapids area, Mercy Medical Center wants to make hospital patients, families and visitors aware of related street closures and detours that may make it more difficult to navigate traffic around the hospital on Thurs., July 26 and Fri., July 27.
Note that 8th Avenue SW between Rockford Rd. SW and 1st St SW will be closed from 5 a.m. Thursday until 2 p.m. Friday. Mt. Vernon Rd. between Memorial Drive SE and the east city limits on Mt. Vernon Road SE will be closed starting Friday at 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. To get to Mercy, it may be best to take I-380 to exit 20B – 7th Street. Take 7th St. south toward the hospital.
Also, 10th St. between 3rd Ave. and 4th Ave. remains closed due to construction. There is, however, a detour available that is clearly marked by construction signs.
Mercy staff members are also available to assist patients, families and visitors with traffic information so our guests know how to safely and most efficiently reach the hospital.
