Mayo Clinic dementia expert to lead free community conversation March 9 in Cedar Rapids
Mayo Clinic dementia expert Angela M. Lunde, co-author of “Day to Day: Living With Dementia,” will lead a free community conversation on Alzheimer’s disease from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Mon., March 9, at the DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia, 9000 C Ave. NE in Cedar Rapids.
Lunde has worked in dementia care, education and research for more than 20 years as an associate within the Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. She is also involved in numerous national partnerships aimed at reducing stigma and supporting full inclusion for people living with dementia.
During her visit, Lunde will meet with a local support group made up of individuals newly diagnosed with dementia, as well as their care partners. The group has been reading and discussing her book in preparation for her visit.
Lunde’s appearance comes as Cedar Rapids continues to expand its dementia‑friendly initiatives. Linn County joined the national Dementia Friendly America Network in 2024, and Mercy Medical Center was designated a Dementia Friendly Organization in December 2025, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to person‑centered dementia care.
The community conversation event is free and open to the public. Registration is requested by March 2. To register, call the Family Caregivers Center at (319) 221‑8866 or email fcgc@mercycare.org.
