Having received his training at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Abernathey has more than 30 years of experience in neurosurgical procedures. Specializing in cervical fusions, patients seek him out for his meticulous approach and proficient technique. His patients often are able to go home in four hours and usually receive immediate pain relief.
Dr. Abernathey is sensitive to each patient's situation. He believes in being forthcoming regarding making a sensible surgical decision, performing surgery only when it becomes necessary.

Following graduation from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Eck did his residency, internship and a fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington Hospital in St. Louis.
His specialties include surgical management of spinal conditions of the neck and back, including degenerative diseases, disc herniations, spinal stenoisis, adult and pediatric scoliosis, fractures and tumors.
A graduate of East Tennessee State's James H. Quillen College of Medicine, Dr. Mouw did his residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
With more than 20 years of experience, he specializes in cervical spine surgery and minimally invasive lumbar surgery. Dr. Mouw was the first area surgeon to perform lumbar fusion surgery and was also co-investigator for artificial disk replacement.
He takes an honest approach with patients as to what they can expect after surgery.
After graduation from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in 1993, Dr. Smith did a six-year residency in Neurological Surgery at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery that permits more rapid healing, shorter hospital stays and low complication rates, resulting in dramatic pain reduction. Dr. Smith performs "the right surgery for the right reasons" to achieve the best possible outcome.
