Telehealth (also known as telemedicine) refers to the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.
The MercyCare Telehealth Clinic allows Rockwell Collins employees, spouses and dependents (at least 5 years of age) to be seen by a medical provider located at MercyCare for acute needs via telehealth technology. The nurses who staff the clinic are employed by MercyCare Community Physicians.
The clinic is available to all Rockwell Collins employees, spouses and dependents (at least 5 years of age).
Telehealth visits are covered by select insurance carriers, therefore, the cost for services, not including applicable lab fees is based on the maximum allowable fee per visit administered by your health insurance provider. The patient cost will be dependent on the type of insurance, any applicable office visit co-pays, network discounts, etc. In most cases, telehealth visits are less expensive than urgent care or primary care provider visits. Check with your medical insurance provider for coverage and cost information.
For those enrolled in a Rockwell Collins Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP 1, CDHP 2 or CDHP 3), the cost for services, not including applicable lab fees, is $75 per visit. Rockwell Collins CDHP-covered patients will save anywhere from $30 to $80 if they were to use the telehealth service located onsite at Rockwell Collins versus going to a primary care or urgent care office, as shown below.
All patients, regardless of PCP affiliation are welcome to be seen at the Rockwell Collins Mercy Telehealth Clinic. If your PCP is not a MercyCare Provider, MercyCare will provide a copy of the note to them.
Yes, spouses and children at least 5 years of age or older can use the clinic.
The following illness/acute conditions can be seen via telehealth technology. If you have questions about whether or not you can be seen, please call the clinic at (319) 294-7012 and a registered nurse can assist you.
Yes. If in-clinic testing or blood work is performed there will be an additional charge. Pricing for these services will be identical to what you would pay in any other clinic setting. The patient cost will be dependent on the type of insurance, any applicable office visit co-pays, network discounts, etc.
Health Services is run by registered nurses who provide education and direction to employees on whether they need to be seen by a health care provider. Nurses cannot diagnose an illness or injury or prescribe medication.
Telehealth allows employees to be seen by a provider for personal illness, receive a diagnosis and be treated.
The same type of illnesses/acute conditions can be seen in both environments. However, the telehealth clinic will not be equipped to perform procedures, laceration repairs or broken bones. The telehealth clinic also cannot be used for annual physicals or chronic care follow-up appointments.
Yes, appointments can be scheduled by calling the clinic between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Yes, two registered nurses are on-site to complete appointment-scheduling, registration, complete in-house lab testing, blood draws and facilitate the use of the telehealth diagnostic medical equipment.
All charges will be billed through your insurance. Telehealth visits are only covered by select insurance carriers; therefore, you may be required to make a payment at the time of the visit. If applicable, telehealth visits may be paid for by check, cash, credit card, Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).
For those enrolled in a Rockwell Collins Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP 1, CDHP 2 or CDHP 3), no payment/receipt of money will be required at the time of a visit. All claims will be administered through Wellmark and patients will receive a bill from Mercy.
The average visit length is 15 to 20 minutes. Your first visit may take longer due to clinic registration.
Yes, please bring your insurance card to each of your visits. You will register at the clinic just as you would for any other health care appointment.
Yes, the clinic is available to all U.S. non-union Rockwell Collins employees and their spouses and dependents (at least 5 years of age) who have access to the clinic.
This includes employees and their family members traveling to Cedar Rapids from any of our U.S.-based locations.
The age requirement for the telehealth technology is 5 and up. This requirement may be reevaluated in the future.
No, the clinic cannot be used for an annual physical and/or annual exam. The list of illnesses/acute needs for which the clinic can be used can be found above.
Rockwell Collins pre-65 retirees covered under CDHP 2 through Wellmark will have access to the Telehealth clinic. Please bring your Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance card to each of your visits. You will register at the clinic just as you would for any other health care appointment.
Pre- and post-65 retirees, not covered by CDHP 2, also have access to the clinic, however, telehealth visits are only covered by select insurance carriers. Therefore, you may be required to make a payment at the time of the visit. Check with your medical insurance provider regarding telehealth coverage.
Upon arrival, you will check-in and register. A nurse will then bring you to a private exam room and will take your health history, vitals and document what you are being seen for. The nurse will then call the provider and they will appear on the telehealth video feed. The nurse will remain in the room for the duration of the exam. The provider will ask questions pertaining to your condition and will direct the nurse to use the diagnostic equipment as needed. You will be able to see the provider and interact with them through the telehealth video feed. At the conclusion of the appointment, you will be given follow-up instructions and check-out.
No, you can get your prescriptions filled at any in-network pharmacy, not just OptumRx.
If you are covered under a Rockwell Collins Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP 1, CDHP 2 or CDHP 3) prescription drug information can be found on the eBenefits and Pay Portal under the “Health and Welfare” tab and “Prescription drug plan information.”
Yes, visits conducted at the MercyCare Telehealth Clinic at Rockwell Collins are protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). All personal health information will be stored in your secured EPIC electronic health record, just like any other visit. Yes, all video and audio that is transmitted during the visit will be delivered point to point on the MercyCare network between the MercyCare Telehealth Clinic at Rockwell Collins and the provider sitting physically at MercyCare. The transmission of video and audio will be contained within the MercyCare network. The video and audio are not saved.
