Local artists’ works are displayed in the hallway outside the cafeteria. The display changes each month.
This popular activity is held in Lundy Pavilion several afternoons a month. This committee develops schedule and oversees logistics.
This holiday extravaganza is held in early November. The event includes a Mistletoe Market featuring local vendors, a bottomless coffee cup shop, as well as the traditional bake sale. Mercy Flowers and Gift Shop adds to the celebration with wonderful seasonal items for purchase. This hugely successful event taps the organizational and creative skills of this committee, which designs this Christmas shopping experience filled with locally made goods.
The Mercy Flowers and Gift Shop is one of the primary fundraisers for the Auxiliary. It is a wonderful place to find treasures, fresh flower arrangements and creative silks. This premiere hospital gift shop offers a variety of volunteer opportunities – from staffing to creating unique merchandise.
The angels found on Christmas trees in the 10th Street lobby indicate the age and gender of someone who needs a Christmas present. Approximately 1,000 gifts are donated annually to area agencies, helping make a more joyous Christmas for many people of all ages. The committee coordinates the event from contacting the agencies to preparing gifts for pick up.
A long-standing tradition at Mercy, tours are used by area teachers as an educational tool for children (generally elementary). Each department visited provides an “expert” to give the students a firsthand explanation of what happens in each department. In addition to the learning that occurs, tours help students feel more comfortable in a hospital environment. Many children say they like X-ray and the cafeteria best! The Auxiliary tour coordinator is responsible for developing the schedule, as well as training tour guides recruited from the membership. Typically, tour “season” is October-April.
Are you an early riser or do you just love a good cup of coffee? A popular stop for hospital employees and visitors, Uncommon Grounds is located in the 10th Street Lobby, and could be just the volunteer opportunity for you. The Coffee Corner is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Baristas staff the Coffee Corner in 4-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
The Spring Luncheon and program is held every April. Besides the delicious meal, door prizes add to the excitement. The committee members pool their talents to create a theme that generates community participation.
On the designated days in March, the committee distributes daffodils to patients – a symbol of hope. An Auxiliary team coordinates the activity.
